Let\'s Do It! Send them a message

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES DID NOT
PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE
OIL
COMPANIES WOULD CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH A NET LOSS OF
OVER
4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE MAY 19TH HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED "STICK IT TO THEM" DAY AND
THE PEOPLE OF THIS NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT
DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS E-MAIL TO AS MANY
PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL THE PRICES IS NOT
GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES
THAT
THE ARAB NATIONS PROMISED TWO WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE GOING UP BUT AT
THE
SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES
ARE
FORCED TO RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING THAT IS
SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING MATERIALS, MEDICAL
SUPPLIES
ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END? WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY,
WE
WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU
KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND MAKE MAY 19TH A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF
THE
UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

Re: Let\'s Do It! Send them a message

It's pretty enraging. I've read this or something like it a couple times now as part of a chain email. In any case, read this as an interesting counter-point. Someone along the way in the chain fired it back in reply:

you know I don't know who wrote this or who any of you are on the list of
forwards, and I have never responded to any e-mail of this sort. But....

Who are the "Oil Companies" and who exactly is the "administration".

I believe our efforts would be much better served identifying who the
players are here and what is the proper solution. Costing an industry
billions of dollars as you say you can, can't do anything but hurt "small"
people somewhere. When most businesses get hurt, it's the bottom third of
the employee base that gets hurt first.

I too am concerned about the price of gasoline...After all my company must
sell cars for me and my family to enjoy the life we do. But I will not
blame an "administration" that was put in power by the majority vote and
even if I did I wouldn't blindly blame the entire administration. There is
no doubt that this gas thing stinks...and will it curb my driving habits?
sure. But I will sit down with my family, create a budget plan and adapt in
the short term. I can control that.

The easy thing to do is point fingers and boycott your local gas
stations for a day...most of which employ good local people. The hard part
is
identifying why this is happening and who is responsible for helping repair
it. Once you learn these things, that means voting responsibly at the local,
state, and national level in this next election ...Know what the candidates
really stand for, what the issues truly are and encourage those around to do
so too. So if you do the research and verify that this is the proper course
of action on May 19th...go for it. But I would be willing to bet for most of
you that will simply mean a fill up prior to that date or just after,
doesn't it.
If I need gas the day of the 19th to get to work, or to my son's baseball
game, or to the grocery store, guess where I will be? The Gas Station.

Today's news headlines include: Wide spread abuse of imprisoned people we
were
supposed to be providing a better life for, Gay Marriages legalized as part
of society, American Soldiers are being attacked and killed all over the
world, and the leader of the New Free Iraq Governing Council is dead. Gas
prices are pretty far down my list of concerns.

you know...I paid over $1.00 for a few ounces of bottled water today. Is gas
really that ridiculous?
