a dum question

ok i know in some places such as california it is 3 hours behind my time hawaii is like 8 hours behind me well can some one tell me hwat time it gets dark in calfornia in eastern time?

The sunset in Los Angeles tonight (May 19) is 7:52 PM Pacfic Daylight Time. Which is 10:52 PM Eastern Daylight Time.

Dont forget that Latitude also has to be taken into concideration. Here in Rochester NY:Sun Rise: 5:42am Sun Set: 8:31pm, but due south of here in Richmond VA:Sun Rise: 5:57am Sun Set: 8:15pm. We got 30 minutes more sunlight here just because we are 500 miles further north.

Another thing to think about is twilight. It is actually light outside before the sun rises and it is still light outside after the sun goes down.

You have to consider the longitude as well as the latitude. It will get dark earlier on the east side of a time zone than it will on the west side. Compare Birmingham, AL with Dallas, TX (both approximately the same latitude).
