Magnetic dimming boost supply

This is an old boost supply I cobbled together quite some time back, snagged at random out of my box of them, when I was testing efficiency, it happens to be a MAX1709, which can handle up to 3.9V @ 4 Amps without problems.

Anyhow, I modified it with and attached a magetic field sensor, wired up a high power LED, and it works great.

In the future, I'll adjust the circuit for a wider dimming range, here it is doing 0.1 Amp to 1.5 Amp.

The same principle applies to buck supplies also.

Could you use it to dim the LED down infinitely? That might make installation easier in, say, a twist switch. I'd love to have something like that.

BTW, I needed a codec for the videos here, in case anyone can't see them. It's for .wmv3, and it works with higher versions of media player, even though it says it's for 6.4.

I'm not sure. I'm still running Windows 98, though, so I would think it would work on most poeple's computers. Just thought I'd post the codec in case anyone needed it.
