Currently I have a DB 917 lux III running on a L4 body. I would like to revert this light back to stock with the McE2s two stage tail cap.

What I would now like to do is replace the 917 with something that would run on an E1e body. I currently have the KL4 head running on this light but would like to move it back to the two cell body where its value can be more realized.

I need suggestions on a BB milliamp value that would be best for a one cell operation!

Brightness for me is perfered over run time as long as that runtime is over 30-45 minutes.

I've found that a BB652 gives around 45 minutes or more regulation hour runtime on 1x123 if using a Lux III J bin Vf. If I had an H bin Vf I'd go up to a BB694. If I had a K bin Vf I'd run it on a BB611.

These suggestions are all based on using a Badboy rev 4 and aiming for as bright as possible but still having the light regulated for around 45 minutes. I'm not sure why KJ's chart shows only 30 mins regulation, but my own graph of a BB667 rev 2 using TV0J achieved over 40 minutes regulation.

My McL4 (BB600 R2H) also got about 45 min in regulation on 1x123.

If you go 2-stage a BB600 is cool, but if you go 1-stage a BB500 or even 400 is much more reasonable IMHO.

Can someone please help answer these 2 questions? TIA.

How long will the runtime be for...
1) a BB500 on 1x123 using a Lux III H bin Vf?
2) a KL1 overdriven to 700mA on 1x123 using a Lux III H bin Vf?

albert,

my KL1/TWAK/750 mA runs on two 1800 mAH NiMH AA's for about 100 minutes at full brightness before it starts cycling on and off

based on that I'd guess a little over an hour for a 123 and your "H" Vf should extend that a little
