I remember folks talking about AAA lithiums a while back... and I just noticed that they have them pictured in the latest Best Buy ad (seattle times).

Yes, there has been some coverage of them in this thread. I've purchased a few from one of the Best Buys in the 'burbs of Seattle.

Longer storage life (typically 10 years), lighter, a little more voltage out than alkalines, very durable in extreme temps (especially cold) vs. alkaline, typically don't leak...what have I left out?

Pretty flat discharge rate right up to the end? This may not be overly important with regulated lights but is a property of lithiums.

The Arc will feel like it has no battery in it with the Lithium cell, since it is about 30% lighter than the usual alkaline.

Doug, can you really feel the difference? The Arc should weigh about 21 grams with an alkaline and maybe 18 grams with the lithium.

The Energizer lithiums have changed their shelf life to 15 years. They claim 80% at the end of shelf life.

I haven't tried the AAA yet, but there's a big difference in weight for the ARC AA with a lithium.

Forgive me for getting a bit off topic.
I have a brinkman 2x AA led light with a pair of the old version AA Energizer lithiums from 1993. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Those spent 10 years in my tv remote before I wore it out and had to get a universal one to replace it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jpshakehead.gif

Both batteries still work nicely in the light, which has been in the glovebox of my truck for the last year. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
For low drain devices in harsh environments, lithiums rule. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif

Harsh enough for the remote to die before the batteries did;
Under my butt in the chair /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eeew.gif, stepped on, spilled drinks, food, dropped and thrown accross the room a few times when the Dallas Cowboys started to stink over the last several seasons.
Then the fun really began for these tired batteries when they went into my led flashlight.
They stayed out in the weather for all 4 seasons outside over the last year in the glovebox where temps ranged from 12 degrees F - over 130 degrees F.

Believe it or not, something I handle as much as an Arc-AAA, I can tell that 3-4gm. differential. The AAA Li cell feels almost weightless in the hand.
I know it makes a bigger difference in the AA CMG Infinity (now Gerber?), but that's not why I bought a 4-pack of the little guys though.

Can deliver higher current levels than alk.

The main difference (for me .-) is that their capacity depends not so much on the loads, that means if you suck out 1W or more, the capacity difference is even more (likely to be in between 1:2 or 1:3).
An ArcAAA is a significant load for an AAA cell (but not a really high one), so it should make a difference.

My local Best Buy hasn't stocked these yet and I didn't feel like sitting on the I95 parking lot so I found them at

http://www.batteryspecialists.com/ at the bottom of the page. I haven't received mine yet but I did receive shipping confirmation. I just wanted to let my fellow CF members know we don't have to pay 11.99 if we can wait.
