(this post was 1st placed in the incan forum, but due to the lack of response I'm trying here /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif )

A friend of mine asked me if I can turn in my lathe a few incans for him.

He feels comfortable with his Surefire e2e, so I'm aiming at that luminosity, little less or more but not much, because he's a tactical shooter and as per his own words: a very bright light is a bullet magnet /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif .

I said I could do them, using direct drive and 1 or 2 CR123

My question:

what is the best bulb price for a light like the one described?

Thanks

PEU, no one responded because that is too little info.

We would need head size, reflector size, assumed cost etc. to give you good options.

OK Bill, thanks for the tip, here you go:

torch total size around the size of a e2e
head a few mm more than the width of a CR123
reflector size around the size of a 123a or a maglite
powered by one or 2 cr123
Thanks

Pablo -

As I noted in your other thread, your best price/performance bulb will probabably be something like a Streamlight Scorpion lamp - $4.50 at Brightguy:

It should give comparable performance to an E2E, although I don't know the availability in Argentina. The Brinkmann Legend LX bulb is also an option, and I believe you can order them by calling Brinkmann directly for about $6. No specific Carley or Welch Allyn lamps spring to mind as being particularly suited for 1 or 2x123a (maybe the WA01121 for 1x123a, although I think it's a little to "bulbous" to be effective in a very small flashlight as you are describing), but in any case, unless you are buying a large quantity, those wouldn't be cost-effective anyway.

Is there some reason you don't want to use the suggested Scorpion or LX lamps?

The other reasonably common options would be the Princeton Tech assemblies, which include the reflector, and I would second the Pelican M6 assembly, though it sounds like it might be a little too big.
