1d m@g cutdown with 4x14500 li-ion cells and lux V

I know the 1D mag cutdown has been done before... but here is my newest
mod.

Thanks to fivemega, I have a nice blue 1d Mag cutdown host.


I put in Endeavours J26 Lux V onto a yafsamoto's(sp?) O-sink.


I used a Fatman to drive it at 1A.


I'm using 4 14500 cells (available HERE for $9 each)
in a 4aa to 1D parallel holder.
(equivalent to a single D sized 3.7v Li-ion with 3.4Ah)


And what you get is a 1D sized mag with about 2 hours of intense light! (Arc4+ rev1 lvl1 on right)

Future plans... after my alx mods, I plan to build a charger into
the end of the barrel (so that the cells don't ever have to be
taken out) and do it in such a way that it can still stand on it's
end (recessed plug)

Also, once I get the 5ah 1D's from saft, I'll drop it in to make
it run for almost 3 hours.

umm, you mean 14500? which is the AA sized li-ion?

No donut hole! Could the light be used as a charger by removing the cells and replacing them? Is that D cell rechargeable? Will NiMH work? How does beam and output compare to ALX mod?

The donut hole is there. It's just that the spot saturated my digital
camera. I guess you can use it as a recharger, but that a pain
unscrewing the light. The whole point is to be able to plug the
light in to charge (overnight) and just pick it up to use when
needed.

Nimh's will not work. 1.5v is not enough for the fatman. YOu need
at least 2.7v.

I'm still working on the ALX's. A local CPFer picked up my original

Yah but that would mean me having to buy what would end up being a $36+ D cell. lol. Thats not uncluding the price of the adapter. I dont have a charging system for 14500's yet anyway /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif
