Just picked up a pretty decent looking (haven't tried it yet) digital multimeter at Sears for $9.99-half price. It's the Craftsman model 8214. They're having some sort of Columbus Day sale this weekend. Also, the heavy canvas zippered tool bags are going for $4.99. Perfect for flashlights.

That looks like a great DMM for flashlights but I wouldn't recommend it for checking the current loads on household circuits. It has only a 10 amp max and these days 15 amp circuits are gradually being replaced by 20 amp circuits. If you hook that puppy up to a circuit with, say, a hair dryer plugged in, there is a good chance that you will release the magic smoke from the fuse inside the meter.
