    Just to throw in a few cents from an area where quakes are rare and weak, so purely theoretical:
    if you have any kind of combustible gas (cooking, heating, other fuels) in the area, it might be worth thinking about getting an 'Ex' qualified light. Some of UK/Peli industrial lights do have this qualification - so they don't trigger an explosion if you turn them on (or off) in the wrong circumstances.

    The 4AA Streamlight LED lights they currently have at Costco have this qualification.
