inspired from a thread a view years ago (can't find them anymore) about improving sidespill of a Opalec Module by
painting the black ring white, I did the same and applied
Glow Powder as well. It is very useful to find the light
at the nightstand etc.

One of the easiest and most usefull mods I've ever done ...

I agree, and have done the same thing by wrapping a strip of glow sheeting inside the bezel / head of many flashlights -- including my Opalec'd and Sandwiche Shoppe'd MiniMags.

Cheers for the nice pictures.

just a side note... Instead of 'painting' the inside, if the reflector can be removed, put down a layer of glue (nail polish) and 'dust' it. ie pour the glow powder on the wet adhesive. this provides a smoother dispurssion of the glow powder and will glow MUCH brighter. let dry and tap the loose powder off, and finish with a clear layer. BIG improvement on visibility.

Jeff, I had to paint the "reflector" anyway, because its black.
And I don't know what effekt glow powder on black surfaces has.
But I could have done it your way after painted it white, thats
a good idea ..

Krit, I am not sure if I have understand you right, but about
20sec of bright light and it glows the whole night. If the
opalec module is the only light source than it takes about a
few minutes.

Cool mod there Ralf.

Could you reveal what sort of 'paint/mixture' did you use and report back again in a few months time to see if there's any problem on the glow powder mod? I am looking for a mixture that does not affect the glowpower performance or turn yellow when it age.

Vince.

I used a mix of clear nail polish. Before I
painted the black ring white with white color
spray. After that I let it dry a few days and applied
clear "color" spray.

Have to look at home which glow powder I have used. ...

Cheers
