http://searchweb2.com/ toolbar removal?? HELP!!!!

Hi,

I have some sort of spyware/advert programme which is adding icons to my desktop; puting a searchbar in IE & changing my homepage. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I have tried to remove it, /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/dedhorse.gif but failed. Does anyone know a good solution to this problem?

If those don't work then it will be time for HiJackThis. Looks like you have a Hijacker. Update AdAware and Spybot S&D before running them. Run HiJackThis last. Be careful with HijackThis. If you think you need help, ask. A lot of guys here know how to run it.

I tried Spybot already, but not ad aware...I'll give that a spin and see what happens! Spybot detected the problem, but wasn't able to remove it /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Thanks for the help!! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I also run FireFox. I don't even have to scan for spyware anymore because it never gets installed. IE is an open portal for garbage to come through. Also, FireFox is much more stable, quicker, and tabs rock! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I had the CoolWebSearch (theres thousands of variants) at one time and no spyware removal tool could get rid of it. So I had to do my own fix to keep it dormant but it still was on my PC.

Also, after you have several spyware removal programs and updated them, reboot to safe mode, then run time. Reboot into safemode again, run them again, then boot to normal mode and see what happens... Good luck!

http://www.spywareinfo.com/ is probably the best resource on the internet pertaining to spyware. I got hit with a ton of spyware/trojans last year and this was the best resource I could find. Spybot and AdAware are in my opinion the best front-end line of defense, but when things get messy you may need to delve into more specific programs. Some programs deal only with specific variants of commom infections (like CWShredder for example) while others do larger scans and removals. If you have the cash to blow and are really computer savvy, TDS-3 is a neat tool to play with and very, very advanced. The above link should get you started pretty well on the way to fixing your problem though. Read the forum carefully for topics relating to your infection first though. While all the people are nice there, they don't like wasting their time.
