I have here a white LED 4.0V max, 20mA, 1100 mcd. I also have 33ohm and 100ohm resistors. How do I make the connections and how many batteries can I use. Also what resistor do I use?

the standard running woltage for whites is about 3.6v. Here is a handy resistor calculator to figure out what value of resistor to use at different voltages.
resistance calculator

For example.

1 led running at 3.6 volts, pulling 20mA from a 6vsource shows it would like 120ohm.

so you could use 100ohm and measure the current (should work up to 25mA. or use a 100 and a 33 ohm in series (total 133ohm) and measure the current.

Hope this helps

Jeff
