i hope this is the right forum for this question:

i can't undestand why some cellular phone works well with batteries of different voltage

for example the old motorola micro-tac work with 5 ni-mh cells for a total of 6volts but it work also with a li-ion cell, but a li-ion can be only 3,6 or 7,2v...

the old nokia 3210 work with 2 ni-mh cells for 2,4volts but also with a li-ion that is 3,6v...

someone can explain? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I think some are rather universal. My old motorola 550 flip phone had an alkline battery pack to use with it. That pack took 6 aa cells of 9 volts. THe stock batteries were 6 volts. I believe the car plug was 12 volts.
