I've got a Princeton Tec Corona head-torch, that uses 3 x standard AA's = 4.5v. Princeton Tec state that it's okay to use lithium AA's, if you wish. I've discovered lithiums can run at a fractionally higher voltage, say 1.6v – 1.7v? So using 3 AA's lithiums should equal 4.8v – 5.1v. The idea I have is not to run lithiums, but a 4 x C pack of rechargables. I've got such a pack on another head-torch, a Myo-Belt-5. If I was able to wire up the 4 x C pack of rechargables to the Corona, that should output 4 x 1.2v = 4.8v I've seen C size rechargables with 4000mAh, so a pack of four should massivley increase run times – plus I'm not compromising the brightness with 4.8v. So is this a viable mod?
