I've got this thing stuck in my head, and I need to remember what it was.

There was a movie where someone was talking about someone else...... they said "It's like throwing gasoline on a fire".

What movie was this?

CUT TO:
Chapin is conferring with another U.S. ATTORNEY, DAVIS, and
Agents Miller and Cerrone.
CERRONE
You really think Vitti is crazy?
CHAPIN
Yeah, he's about as crazy as I am.
INT. U.S. ATTORNEY'S OFFICE - LATER
23.
Think about it. Locked up, he was
absolutely no use to me. But back on
the street, Vitti's still powerful
enough to pose a threat to both
families. It's like throwing gasoline
on a fire.
DAVIS
If we can use Vitti to escalate this
war, we might just end up putting them
all away.
MILLER
That's if he goes back to his old
life.
CHAPIN
If? People like Paul Vitti don't
change. This guy's been a menace to
society since he was twelve years old.
Being a criminal is all he knows.
Trust me.
DAVIS
He's gonna head straight for trouble.
Then all we have to do is sit back and
pick up the pieces. We could get
twenty, maybe even thirty indictments
next time the grand jury convenes.
CHAPIN
(smiles)
You know, Giuliani started this way.
DAVIS
You running for mayor?

Nope.... that's not it

I think it might have been a comedy sort of goofy-like. Maybe a cross between Ed Tv and something with Kevin Spacey?

scene (from memory)
guy1: ok guy2, go ahead and ???
guy2: woo hoo!, come on everybody! (runs off)
guy3: NO!
guy1: (to guy3) it's like throwing gas on a fire.

Sort of dumb and dumber type movie maybe with some wry commentary?

There was a line in Bull Durham. It's been a while, but Tim Robbin's character is describing a baseball game that got away from him, and compared his pitching to throwing gasoline on a fire.

Galaxy Quest!!!!!!!!!!!! Was about to say that too but DaFied beat me to it! I just watched it the other night since its my one of my "therapy" movies (i.e. - feeling down and need to watch something to cheer you up).

Never fails to crack me up and reminisce about the original Star Trek!
