It takes 10-15 minutes before candle mode all emitters even off the same board are different. Obviously once the light dims change the batts to keep your RCR2's safe

Why? Will it discharge them lower than 3V? 3V is perfectly fine and a tenth or so lower occasionally is not really a big problem.
(Assuming direct drive)
Yes you're right PeLu, they'd be fine down to 2.6v by all accounts, so you could run them in candle mode for a while. I personally wouldn't want to keep taking the battery out and measuring it however, so I think that the point at where the light dims is a good indicator to change cells.
Ditto what doc said. The half-life of tritium is 12 years, so in 12 years it will be half as bright. But there is always some delay between the date the tritium is manufactured and the date it arrives in your mailbox, so that needs to be taken into account.
If you are still playing with this light in 2017 or so, you are doing pretty good.
In 2017, I hope I can still EDC the ORB Raw, but with the new 5000 lumen drop-in , a nuclear fusion powered fuel cell (sized to fir the CR2 form factor and lasts 100 years)and it will automatically change to any light intensity using the voice recognition control that has been "lased" into the tailcap. Ok I tried to avoid a flood of posts saying "I want a trit" from people who are already on the list by asking them to post only if they didn't want one, however at that point I didn't realise there would be 2 colours. So those of you left on the list with no trit designation please tell us what colour you would like
Colour choice, well green I think. The green tritiums appear brighter than the blue ones and it'll match the one in my Orb.
I re-read all of the post and am wondering if I missed something.
Has there been a price confrimation yet other then the $12 extra for the tritium? I am very interested but need a more accurate price to budget by.
mtbkndad the price is not yet set but it will be approx $70, thats light charger and batts add $12 if you want a tritium locator milled into the body. The price won't vary wildly from that amount, if you already have a charger and RCR2's then you might even pay sub $70's. Orb is still choosing the best possible batteries to go into the kit and the total price, or price of the pieces you want will be available very soon
