Diffusers for lights?

So with these bright lights and even some of the not so bright lights, is anyone considering diffusers to make more room light? I am really trying to consider something that can be attached for a while, and then removed when I need the light for navigation in the room.

I am considering a NiteEyez light hoster, but am hoping for something that works with my Derringer Eternallight.

A suggestion that I was given was some poly vinal tube and a crumpled piece of tinfoil at the end. This may work, I am exploring it.

Any other suggestions?
