I have a greenie that is just @5mW. It is home-made with parts from several pieces around shop. The beam is focused as well as possible and x/tal alignment is the same. The beam at aperture is @1.7 mm. At 5 meters it is 5 to 6 mm in diameter. Is there another focal lense that could be employed to keep a tight beam? My leadlight does well for the size at the same distance, 2 to 3 mm.Is this common or do I need to undertake re-alignment chores? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon23.gif

A divergence of 1.2mrad is very common which correspond 6mm diamter in 5m range. Replace the lens with a long focus will make the beam tighter. Alternatively, you can put a nonocular in front of the greenie to further reduce the divergence.
