Not sure what you mean with this statement, but the gps receiver receives GPS signals and both the HRM and GPS receiver broadcast information to the watch by radio signals.

I have used the HRM (without GPS) mostly for interval training. The only thing I don't like is there is no way to get a min and max heart rate. Also, the monitor maxes out at 240 bpm , incase you are extremely out of shape.

I am not sure how the watch works. It claims to run on GPS system to track user progress.

Depending on what you are going to be using it for and if the price is right. I would recommend not getting the GPS portion, probably justs shows speed, and avg speed and distance for timed intervals. In my opnion I would get a real GPSr, it just seems more useful.

BTW: I had a GPSr before I got the watch.
