Default Unusual side by side beam shots

I have been wanting to do these shots for a while.
The lights go from left to right
Stock Thor 10 MCP, Thor 10 MCP with spacer ring, 15 MCP Thor magnum, Costco HID.

This photo is quite dim. Notice the beam second from the left, you can see the cylinder I mentioned in a previous post. If you have a good monitor and can see it at all. There is no visible hot spot, it is actually a cylinger of light. The hot spot proper appears out of nowhere farther up the beam. Within about 6 to 8 feet the beam still has a donut hole when shining it on a wall. Within 5 feet it looks more like a ring. By the time the beam is around 15 feet away a pinpoint hotspot starts to develop when looking at the beam against a wall.
What the camera cannot pick up in these shots is a very, very dim beginning of the hotpsot at around the 5 to 6 foot point in the center of the cylinder

A light mist is used here to enhance the beams. The narrowest point on the HID is about 20"- 24" from the lens. The narrowest point for the the stock 10 MCP and 15 MCP Thors is about 5 feet out. When only looking at the first 10 feet of beam it is hard to believe the Thor on the left will not out throw the Thor second from the left.

Heavy mist/rain, obscures the beams a little but gives a great demonstration of the relative amounts of light that come out of each of these Spotlights.

The two 10 MCP Thors are very equal, the 15 MCP is brighter and the HID is clearly puts out more light then the other 3.

    Hey Cool!

That last photo reminds me of the lighted water fountains at Bellagio in Las Vegas.

(Wouldn't that be a neat project for a CPFer??? Mod all the lights at any of the major Vegas casinos )

Guess I'd better get me one of those Costco HIDs. Hope they have them next time I get to the "big city".
