Re: NEOCA WOOD - First production photos

UPDATE:

Heads are finished:
neocaw13.jpg

I went two times to the shop, second time I spend the last 4 hours next to the machinist adjusting the oring-head-body diameters and the presure needed to turn on-off the unit (twist)

Tomorrow I go there again to supervise the tailcaps, and probably taking more photos.

Re: Almost finished unit !!!

Those are great! They come with little battery warmers too. I like it without the knurling also.

Re: Almost finished unit !!!

Its nice without the knurling I agree but it lacks grip to twist.

BTW, quebracho is darker by the minute, I will post a new pic on monday so you can compare. The 1st photo in this thread is quebracho too but turned 4 months ago /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I hope start producing the skins next week.

NEOCA WOOD - To Knurl or not to Knurl? feedback please!

Update:

I have a question:

neocaw23.jpg

With or without knurling?

I think I will take them from the shop unknurled and do the job on demand (for the same price of course)

After a few days of seeing both I think is more elegant without the knurls.

I need feedback

Thanks

Re: NEOCA WOOD - Almost Finished Units (Part 3)

In my case, a lot would depend on the smoothness of the threads.

If they are smooth and turn easily, then no knurling. If not, then knurled.

How soon til they are ready? (I need to get PayPal fired up!)

Without knurling looks very nice! I would prefer to take mine without knurling.

Feedback on knurling needed

The threads are smooth even without lubrication and there is a placeholder for the oring too.

I tought the following: Its not probable that this light will be used in a harsh environment that could need oring seals, so if you want even smooth turns, remove the orings :)

Regarding remaining time, units will be finished this week for sure, since the only operation left is the knurling and Im still not sure on going that way :)

then comes the converter stage, which will be done by Wayne himself, this is, increase the output of the NG that I have to 700mA.

in between comes the manufacture of the skins, which is a 100% hand work.

So I guess a good estimate is late september
