My new B90 battery formed some rust on the negative end of the battery. I kept it on a shelf where there was no heat. Do you think it's still safe to use the battery, I removed the slight rust, looked like sprinkled salt?

The sprinkled salt, is the electrolyte leaking out of the battery. How old is it? If still under warrenty email Surefire and get it replaced.

Safe to use, I think so. Life, has been shortened, 'cause of the leak.

I wouldn't use it. The cell is almost certainly dead and will compromise the performance of the battery pack, you may not even be able to get it to fire up. I wouldn't charge it, either.

Call SF, see what they can do.
