Last night I couldn't resist cracking out the camera. Here's the moon alongside Venus and Spica, and the third image shows Jupiter down below.

Enjoy!

Now I have to go outside and look which will require at least 3 flashlights.

Nice pics.

I am wondering if that is what the people from Turkey saw in the sky when they designed their flag. Look Familiar?

Hey Bindibadgi, Very nice photos! What camera and setup did you use to take those pics?

Nice pics. Gazing at the moon on a clear night is one of the reasons I enjoy owning a set of Canon Image Stabilized 15x50 binoculars. Spectactular!

Cheers,

Oh yeah, Alex, you posted while I was posting. I used a Panasonic Lumix FZ-15 on a tripod. That's all. I actually got the six-pointed Venus results from using the "Night scenery" mode, and the eathshine one was as a result of waiting until dark and then taking a 2 second exposure. I think I used f5.6 but I can't remember.

Hey bindibadgi, are you from India and a Hindu? Tonight (yesterday for you) is Ganesha Festival, and you are not supposed to look at the moon. It's bad luck!

Anyone look at the moon?

Are you kidding?! Just look at my SN/avatar. I used to spend time looking up thru a small Celestron but had to use my tripod at work so it sits in a drawer. Lately I've just used my eyes or some Canon IS binos.

lol, no I'm not Indian or Hindu. My screen name is a misspelling of an Indian curry though. :D

Great shots, those are not easy to do!
Looks like your camera has soe good zoom also.

I need to try this again, last time I did it, the moon was just a white dot.
I'll have to adjust the exposure some next time.
