YES ! Anyone get the bezel off the River Rock 2C ?

So far I have tried strap wrenches and then a ton of heat(melted the optic - GOOD, I hated the beam !).
SOMEBODY HELP ! ! !
Thanks !

There is no reflector, just a black plastic cone. The beam is total flood now.
It sits on a shelf taunting me...
I will try it again.

How did you apply the heat? Boiling water? Hair dryer?
Did the lens dissovle, or just fall out?

(Inquiring minds want to know!)

First, I put it in boiling water for 10 minutes - no budge.
Then I rolled the head/bezel on a red-hot stove for a couple minutes. The optic got soft and misshaped. It really did not "melt". I still had to force a screwdriver into the plastic and pull it out.
It still sits.

I win. Bezel is off.
Used:
Stove, old pan, leather welder's gloves, 2 big channel lock pliers.

Turned the stove to HI.
Waited for it to get RED. Put on the pan to even out the heat.
Put the 2C standing, bezel-end down, on the pan and waited 5 minutes.
I actually used 2 pairs of gloves: wore one pair and used the other to put in between the pliers and body. Came off in one try. NO SCRATCHES ! ! !
The electronics module pops out the top side with just a little push.
Side note: the bezel/threads appear to be 2 pieces. The threads on the bezel side are male going into the body(female) part of the light. Even though I have it apart and can remove the led module and replace the led etc, I still cannot replace the lens(YET !). Looks like I will need to separate the bezel from the threaded insert. The saga continues AFTER this weekend - going to Yosemite !

looks like I will have to use a padded vise and a cheater pipe. I hope I do not yield the aluminum but it sounds like heat is a no go if you want to experiment with the optic
