Cheap Battery Alert

Big Lots today had Rayovac 6 packs of AA and AAA for a buck. The expiration date could be better- 2008.

I'd still go for the Kirkland brick (48 AA batteries) at Costco for $10. The current expiration date is March, 2011.

Advance Auto Parts (at least here in central Virginia) has been selling "Endurance" alkalines for $4.88 a set, where a set is 24 AAA or AA, and fewer C or D cells. One of my boxes has a December 2012 date on it. They seem to be working quite well for me. Handy, since we don't have a Costco, and Sam's doesn't seem to have such good prices on their Energizers. This price was a special good through August, and now at least through September - possibly October. I've gotten several boxes and proven to be a (minor) hero to my family with them already.
