I'm in the market for a headlamp. I'm not a spelunker, camper, or backpacker. I need suggestions on an overall, above-average headlamp. I would like to spend no more than $30.00 and I don't have a preference for LED or incandescent.

Thanks folks.

Ditto on the River Rock 2AAA headlamp. Great deal for $15.

For $30, get a Princeton Tec EOS headlamp. Uses 3 AAA batteries, has 3 brightness settings and has regulation for keeping the Luxeon LED bright for a long period of time.

Cabella's have a few and there is a dual hot wire on sale that might interest you.
I just ordered a cheap ($15.48 delivered) one from quality china goods it has one 3w and 3 smaller leds

The light is identical to a name brand except it has a 3 watt rather than a 1 watt main bulb.

I'm gambling that it is has gray market parts and that if I get lucky I'll have a very good light and if not I'll have very good pieces and parts for mods.
