Hi everybody,
First, sorry for my poor language.:ohgeez:
I am frensh cop and I would have some advices from specialist like you.
I am looking for my job a light with enough power and little size.
We already have maglite charger, they work great but are too big.
I work every night without uniform, that's why I want a discreet light who can stay in my belt when I run after a thief and i forget my maglite in the car.
I already search in the net and I saw SUREFIRE Z2.
Does someone in this forum know it? (probably yes!)
If you have other propositions I will study them too.
:thanks:
Cyrbass.

I would look at the G2z it is the same size and brightness but lighter and more durable. They are both great lights I would also look at getting the P61 lamp unless you really need the runtime of the stock P60.

I would suggest you try and have a look at the Surefire E2e and compare it with the Z2 in person if you can. It is similar in brightness to the Z2, but much much smaller and compact.

You can carry the E2e in any pocket without discomfort, while the Z2 is easily pocketable, it is definately more bulky.

Regarding the Z2 (and G2Z, and Z3, and M3....) Apart from the Surefire Z70 plastic holder for these lights, hardly anyone makes a pouch for these that actually fits well. The rubber grip ring causes the lights to stick when drawing from many nylon pouches.

I second the vote for the E2e, it's so small, but just as powerful as any of the other 2 cell surefires (with standard lamps of course).

Welcome to CPF!

There are lot of cops on this board, so I'm sure they will give you great advice.

I have a friend that showed me his Z2, I think it is a nice light but I'm not sure if it will be powerful enough for you. The Magcharger will outthrow it big time. I would have taken a look at Streamlight TL-3.
One issue my friend had with his Z2 was that he had difficulties getting it out from the holster because of the combat grip, so you may consider the version with a clip instead, i.e. the C2. However, it may have been his holster that has been a bad match to the light, so there may be holsters without the problem.
In addition to the Streamlight TL-3 I would also have taken a look at Surefire A2, Surefire C3, Streamlight TL-2, Streamlight NF-2 and Streamlight Strion.

Having the leds on the A2 will be handy if you are doing reading/writing outside in the dark.

The Z2 would be a good choice, but so would the G2, C2, and G2Z. Anything larger is going to be difficult to conceal or wear while seated in a car. I once made a felony car stop at night on some bad guys while I worked out of uniform and couldn't find my Stinger, which I set down on the seat. I felt pretty dumb.

I would recommend a Streamlight Strion. It is brighter than a Z2, and it is rechargeable. It fits a pocket better than the Z2, C2, or G2Z.
