    Hi goldserve,

What is the voltage range that the FLuPIC can tolerate? I know it is ok with the temporary 4.2V of a fresh LiIon rechargeable but what about a constant 4.5V from three 1.5V batteries. For instance, what about using a JIL Intelli with the JIL-Bus 2xAA battery extention loaded with three N cells and an appropriate spacer? Perhaps three 2/3 AA NiMH batteries (3.6V) would be more appropriate? I believe you have specifically said to NOT use 2 LiIon batteries in series (8.4V peak) with the JIL-Bus extension.

It should be fine with 3 x 1.5V = 4.5V. Not a problem there. Cheers!

    Hi goldserve,

I have a trivia question that I have been wondering about.

What does FLuPIC stand for and what is the 'correct' capitalization for it?

yes... i would like to know too ...

    ---

goldserve... just got my intelli and am so impressed with your Flupic... do you think it would be possible for me to purchase a board from you with custom programing? What is the range of features that you can program?

Example: I thought it would be nice to have the lowest brightness level blink ever 4 to 5 seconds or so to act as a location indicator (similar to the HDS, but dimmer)...

    ---

again can't tell you all enough... if you haven't used the flupic yet... get it!

I can't tell @ all that is PWM... the only time I can tell is when I have it shining in the room with my fan... the fan looks 'weird'... and if I light up running water... but my eyes are unable to see the flicker at all... neither can my wife... amazing technology

so impressed... I want to get a TXOH on a new custom board

    jar3ds,

Too bad I did not see this earlier. If you haven't read my notice, I will try to minimize any custom programming. If you order one from me this weekend, I should be able to make the custom programming. Thanks.

*Notice* I will be away for school for a few months so sales of flupic boards will slow down. Instead of making regular trips to the PO, I will make them once a week. Also, any custom programming will be limited to a minimal.

    Hi goldserve,

Will these fit into the new F&L J1 3w( Jil Clone) and Luxogen LR-5 3w? The first is a CR2 light and the latter a 123.

I would like to mod these lights with your sandwich, and the emitter of your recommendation if possible, and use them with lith-ion batteries.

    Thanks for your time...

    Hi lightningbug,

goldserve can give you a better answer but here's my 2 cents.

It would probably help if you could post a picture of the F&L J1 disassembled, so that we can see if the light engine is similar to the JIL. You'll probably also need to measure the diameter and height of the board.

I'm sure there is enough room in there for a FLuPIC once you take out the boost converter, the main question is likely to be if the JIL board diameter will fit correctly and what length it needs to be. I'd be surprised if there was enough room in there for both the boost converter and the FLuPIC.

Yes, since I don't have that light, all pictures and measurements would be helpful. Cheers!

Default FLuPIC low battery warning option?

    Hi goldserve,

I was reviewing the info on the FLuPIC and saw the above quote in post #120.

Is there any chance of getting some sort of low battery warning?

Perhaps even a charge level indicator mode (for instance 1 to 4 flashes to indicate current battery charge level)? I know the memory space is very limited so this may not be practical.

    I was just curious.

Hi Goldserve, are these still available? I have a custom application for one of these, can you tell me the greatest diameter and thickness of the sandwich without the emitter please? Thanks,
    Marc

Goldserve, is it possible to make a standard style sandwich with one of your .550 boards, for use in any regular sandwich application? If so, would you be interested in making me at least one?

Remember Chief Wiggum from a couple years ago? He made me a sandwich with a downboy converter using a copper disk for the emitter board. I wish I had a box full of them. Same with your Flupic, I love the dang thing. My skill is in machine work, not electronics. I can build a standard sandwich using Shoppe parts but that's about my limit.........

    Thanks,
    Dan C

    Hi goldserve,

I noticed that this thread is old enough that you can no longer change the thread title by changing the title of the first post. I have had similar problems with some of my older threads. Perhaps you can get one of the admins to change the title for you so it doesn't have that confusing message about a special price till 1/2/06.

    The dimensions are as follows

whole sandwich 0.31 inch high (Outer)
width of top board, and heat sink 0.1 inch thick
width of the driver board 0.05 thick

    Inner space available 0.2 inch

The driver board is the following

    Thick 0.05 inches
    diameter 0.6 inches
