Or how easy is it to open and and replace the led with a nice U bin lux3 
i was interested in this one primeraly due to throw but the 1 watter put me off. Any one know or have contacts to find out?

Contact Heliotek and ask if they are considering a lux III upgrade. What they have, it appears, is a mostly plastic flashlight with a deep reflector. I do not know what they use for a head sink, but it may be the reflector, not sure. A lux 1 may be the limit for heat conduction in the Heliotek. Contact them with the question.
