Bulgin in UK produces very solid battery holders in the abovementioned sizes. The body is made of glass filled nylon and the contacts are massive nickel silver. The upper solder lug is loadable up to 25A, whilst the lower P.C. pin carries up to 5A.
As they are meant to be
battery holders, they clasp an inserted battery tightly. To use them as a
charging cradle in a comfortable way, the holding arms should be cut short to an adequate lenght.
The picture shows an AA holder with a protected 14500 cell inserted, so you can see the sufficient space for any cell, be it protected or not.
