Default Free Google Voice calls with your Windows Mobile phone

I picked up an HTC Tilt 2 (aka Touch Pro 2) running Windows Mobile 6.5 from AT&T a couple of weeks ago. One of my top priorities was to get the device set up for free VoIP calls using Google Voice and Gizmo the way I've done in the past with other devices (Nokia N810, Linksys SPA 2102).

Yesterday, I finally got things working to my satisfaction using the following free programs:

iDialer
iContact
Fring

Basically, I use iDialer to originate calls through Google Voice using my Gizmo number as the callback number. That way Gizmo treats each call as a free incoming call. I use Fring to answer and talk.

I've confirmed that this works on both wifi and AT&T's 3G network. I don't know if other providers block VoIP or not.

I've posted detailed instructions on my blog if anyone is interested in setting this up. Here's the link:

Next project: figuring out whether I can replicate this with the wife's iPhone.
