Default 12" long 1/8" dia. fluorescent tubes

I found a old paper scanner so I took it apart just to see what its like inside then I came across a 12" long 1/8" dia. fluoresent tube. Its the long light you see when you use your scanner.Right now the only way I can hook it up is with a flyback transformer. It works good that way but I would like a safer way to hook it up.Any ideas?

Oznium Custom Automotive Products might sell you a transformer for it that runs off of 11-15 volts DC.

It just might be better in the long run to buy a pair of white 12 inch tubes with the dual transformer for $6.49 plus shipping.

The 12 inch white tubes with dual transformer are nice and bright and consume 650 milliamps at 12 volts.

Holy Cow! That looks like a great deal on CCFLs. Just the ticket for a desk lamp project, I'd think...

The power supply had four wires and I got it working but it would be very dim and only half of the tube would come on.
