Default How to identify what this is?

I'm trying to determine what type of lighting is used to produce the effect on the following link which is video from a Massive Attack concert a few days ago in Tokyo. I've seen this at their other concerts this summer.

Chris Levine, a well-known light artist, designed their previous lighting and I'm not sure if he did this.

I've been seeing this effect more and more but Massive Attack's lighting is amazing.

Is this a new technology? How is it done?

Massive Attack Concert video - View at 1:20 (one minute, twenty seconds) to view full effect.

Admin, I realize I probably posted in the wrong category but I really don't know where to post it.

Those may be mirrors with a variety of hidden spotlights playing on them.

Methinks it was a "shaped" LED display built around a product like Barco's MiPix.

I've seen these panels close up before. They contain arrays of 3w Luxeons in clusters of 3 (RGB). They are extremely bright! They are cascadable and use DMX to control the output. Quite a few manufacturers are making these now.

Similar to this:

They are being used more and more to produce colored lighting effects on stage, as they use less power, have less heat, are smaller, and never need maintenace compared to a standard incandescent with gels.
