Christo Pull Hair Car Headlight Problem

Hi,

i have a bmw 523iSE. Just fitted 'replica' angel eye headlights. They are not halogens or xenons, but just straighforward headlights which look good. They were pretty much straight in connections, apart from the sidelights, where the connectors didn't fit, so I cut the wires and then joined them properly. The old lights has a self leveling motor on them, the new ones don't, so that connector is laying in the engine bay doing nothing at the moment.

Everything was working for 3 days when all of a sudden (while driving) my RIGHT hand side (drivers side) high beam (full beam) light came on, and will now not switch off.

To see if it was an earthing problem, i took the new lights out and put the old ones back in, and still get the same problem - only from the right side.

Could this be a problem with the relay for the right high beam light? If so what could be causing it......it's clearly something i've done as the lights were working without incident beforehand.

Also, the sidelights are flickering when the engine is started and keep flickering, not really badly, and it doesn't annoy me, but i'm wondering if this problem is related.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

TG

What turns on the headlights, is it a positive connection or is it a ground connection?

I've had a similar problem once before (except it was a seatbelt warning light) and it was caused because I pinched a wire between body and a metal bracket when screwing it together.

Honestly, I'd recommend checking out www.bimmerforums.com .

The guys over there have more specific experience, and the community is quite global.
