Default How to do Links and Other Such Things?

Hi Guys,

How do you post a link with the url substituted with a label, like "linky" or "here" or some other short thing?

And how about making text red, or underlined, or italic?

I know the [ img ] [ /img ] markup, but not the rest.

Scott

To insert a link you need only click on the small Earth & chain link icon that is directly above the white box that contains your typed message text.
When you click the icon you will be prompted to type in the text for your link first and then you will be prompted for the actual url.

You can select the font, font size, and font color by using the controls above the white box also.

I don't have any of the icons, just a text box for the title and another for the reply.

Is the markup something like thise?

[ url=link ] www.surefire.com [ /url ] ?

edit: nope, that didn't work. . .

Don't use the Quick Reply box, instead, hit the blue Post Reply button and you should see a Reply To Thread page with the icons and what not above the white text box.

That's what I do, hit the reply button. No icons. Maybe I have my settings in retard mode

Actually I don't want any icons. More "stuff" just slows the loading. My connection is like 2.5 k/sec. I'd rather just use "longhand" if possible.

I do this:

It also makes your discription BOLD and ITALIC...and SNAPPY, IMO.

You can also keep your eyes open and when you find that you really like the way someone has presented a link or an imagelink, just hit the quote button. Then you can see the code they used. I have a little text file of 'boilerplate' code i use all the time to make posting quicker.

[ URL = http://www.surefire.com ] SureFire [ /URL ]

SureFire

Ok, I was in retard mode. Now I have the icons.

Except, it is kind of slow to load. I think I'll go back to retard mode.

Thanks for the hints.
