<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">A Curling Stone is used in the sport of Curling which is big in Canada. When I lived in Detroit (much closer to Canada), I used to sometimes see Curling matches broadcast on CBC. It is a really silly looking sport, at least to the unitiated American (no offense to all our Canadian members, eh). One member of a team slides the stone down the ice and then other members use brooms to try to control its path and speed. The goal is to score with your stones while knocking out your opponents (like shuffleboard or bocce ball).

Once again I seem to have an excess of trivial knowledge, Pat
