Re: LED Replacement Bulbs for Nightlights
When it comes to nightlights, I have about three various LED styles that I've tried.
The first one was a single blue LED behind a clear plexi-glass figure like a ship, or a seashell. It illuminates the plexi-glass and puts out a pretty decent light. Not sure of the wattage, but it's low. I usually leave it plugged in 24/7.
The second one I tried - and was disappointed with - was a single white LED - illuminating a plex-glass seashell, same as the blue LED. However... the brightness isn't the same, or else the blue light works better in the dark... not sure which. Not sure of its power rating either, but it's very low.
The third one - I just got recently - is in a miniature lightbulb screw socket, and is meant to be screwed in to those nightlights that used to be very common with their 4 watt (or 7 watt - if you could find them) incandescent bulbs. Only - this version uses 3 white T-1 LEDs and about 3 rectifiers, and... well, I cannot make it out through the glass.
It appears to have a glass 'bulb' over the entire set of LEDs. I 'clocked' this one on my Kill-A-Watt meter. It took 2 weeks (14 days) almost to the minute - to kick over at 0.01 kWH.
It puts out a decent amount of light - in a darkened bathroom, where I have it.
I figure that it will only cost me about 4-cents per year (or less) leaving it plugged in 24/7.
I don't know if this helped. I know I didn't discuss the particular LED nightlight that you saw. What I will say is... buy it. Try it. You may like it.
