Sssh Register: LEDs replace hands in bonkers Japanese watches

Article on some funky looking watches that use LEDs instead of hands.

From the article: These watches may look as though they’re from a future era, but the LED-based timepieces could be just the thing to adorn your wrist and compliment your I-LUV-UNIX T-shirt.

Seems like it would be hard to read at a glance. Besides that, the power consumption from the LEDs will probably kill the battery pretty fast unless they only turn on when you press a button. Today's LEDs are orders of magnitude more efficient than those in LED watches of 30 years ago, but running them continuously will still kill a battery in days.

Although these seem like a gimmick, I do think old-school digital LED watches are cool. They're still made, too.
