Default Affects of IR light on nightvision ...

I have never played with night vision devices. I was wondering if anyone knew the affects of IR light on nightvision devices? If I were to point an IR light on a nightvision device, the screen turn white like it does on a camera due to the excessive light?

Well, basically yes, if with "IR" you mean short-wave IR (not thermal)
Your typical night vision device will be sensible into the ir-range, and amplify it a lot.

There is no difference between IR and visible light to it - if its bright enough to saturate the amplification, it will blind it.
