Safe mode with Networking.
My Windows XP is acting up. The only way I can access CPF is by using Safe Mode With Networking. (Currently the only way I can access anything).
Let's see if I can post on CPF, while in Safe Mode.
Might as well try out the smiles too.

Success! I'll get my piece of $#^% comp fixed later.

Re: Safe mode with Networking.
Apparently a file is showing as missing or corrupt. And I'm also getting Fatal Error 4096.
All I know is, recently, every time I turn my comp off for a few hours; it acts up. I leave it on, no problems. Can't explain why, just know that's what happens.
My Norton anti-virus is up to date. Don't think the problem is a virus, but can't be 100% sure. I've already contacted the guy who fixed my comp a few months ago when my hard drive crashed. He promised to take a look by Saturday at the latest.
Any advice would definitely be appreciated though.

Re: Safe mode with Networking.
missing or corrupt? from the error, it seems your boot.ini file is acting up for some reason.
Start -- > Run -- > type msonfig and click OK
a window should pop up "system configuration utility"
click on boot.ini.... 4th tab over, and click "Check all Boot Paths"
if there's a problem, that should fix it.

Thanks for the advice. Still having problems though. Starting to think my comp might be possessed.

Re: Safe mode with Networking.
I had lots of comp viruses this year, yet they acted as violently as worms, I thought they were. 3 times in 09. It sucks. I had to reformat and everything, each time. The last time I was using Norton 360, which is supposed to be the best IS out there. I'm good now, just annoying to move files back and forth.
So you get it all fixed?
