I am utterly appalled ...

I have been a member of Candle Power Forums since February 2002. Before that I had been lurking for about 8 months. I have cherished my membership with CPF for the last two years … until now.

Let me begin by explaining the origins of my interest in flashlights.

The year was 1977. I was four years old, and "Star Wars" hit the theaters. Oh, what a movie! The lights … the sounds … the music!!! The story of a young lad, seemingly orphaned from an early age, with no knowledge of his mother, father or sister, destined for greatness of galactic proportions … The saga of a desert planet living moisture farm boy with dreams of seeing the bright center of the universe … The epic of how this young "sky walker" overcomes impossible odds to save the girl, vanquish evil and restore freedom to the galaxy …

In addition to all this, there was … the Lightsaber. As the wise Obi-Wan declared, "The weapon of a Jedi. Not clumsy or random like a blaster. An elegant weapon for a more civilized age." To me, it was the flashlight's flashlight. The Excalibur of flashlights. I wanted one and I needed one.

And so began my quest to have one. However, I soon discovered that lightsabers do not exist nor could exist with existing technology. Nonetheless, despite my disappointment, I discovered what is available with today's technology: flashlights. And so began my quest to have the best flashlight I could find.

A quarter of a century later, my quest led me to Candle Power Forums. A meeting place of like-minded individuals coming together to share knowledge, encourage improvement and development in flashlight technology, and foster a greater love and respect for illuminating the darkness. Above all, a place to share camaraderie and friendship.

And now, this is what becomes of CPF …

One day after taking away the post counts and CPF is having a meltdown.

Are we that petty about who has more posts than the next guy? Are we that petty? Huh? Are we?! Huh?! ARE WE?!!! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif[/img]

I mean come on! It's not like we're comparing phone numbers in our little black books or notches on our headboards. Come on!!!! It's only a number!!!!! A F#@$ING NUMBER!!!!

Oh, I cannot believe this!

Oh, this really ticks me off!

Oh, the humanity!

All this hostility because of what? A number? A F#@$ING NUMBER?!!!!

Sheesh.

Bill Martino over at BladeForums has over 31,000 posts. And I don't think anyone will accuse him of artificially inflating his post count.

I'm just practicing my meoldrama [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] Hope you all enjoyed it!

My inspiration to write this is from an episode of "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/popcorn.gif[/img]. It's the episode where Will Smith, his cousin Carlton, and his Uncle Banks are stuck in the woods. The night is dark; their situation grim. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

Carlton suddenly starts a deep, philosophical monologue describing his first observation of oppression and bigotry. He laments about someone who is taunted, jeered, and teased just because that person is different. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/twak.gif[/img]

Just when the audience thinks his sorrow can't get any lower [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mecry.gif[/img], Carlton (with a very serious expression) says he can still hear the kids' taunting ... "SILLY RABBIT! Trix are for kids!"

Oh, man! That cracked me up! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yellowlaugh.gif[/img]

31,000 posts?! Hmmm ... If I can make one post a minute, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I should beat this in ... (in my best Austin Powers accent) "The mechanics are mind-boggling! Groooovy, baby! Yeah!"

A rabbi on a luxurious cruise is enjoying himself immensely. He retires to his quarters only to be rudely awaken an hour later. The ship is going down! He rushes to the top deck and grabs a life preserver. In spite of all efferts he is the sole survivor. He finds himself on a quaint, tropical island full of small creatures who call themselves 'Trids'. These trids seem focused on one thing. To scale a shear cliff and see what's over the top. But everytime one clears the top they're kicked beyond the horizon by a giant ogre. The rabbi miffed and curious decides to scale the cliff himself to see what danger lies beyond. To his amazement he clears the cliff and is not hurled into oblivion. Crouched and eyes clinched tight he slowly opens his eyes. He sees the Ogre who is standing ready but not kicking him beyond the horizon. After what seems like an eternity he finally asks "why haven't you kicked me?" To which the ogre replies "Silly Rabbi, kicks are for trids!"

Oh..I need therapy...I've found a "secret" corner that members are using for some "secret society" meeting of sorts and they didn't invite me...

I typically ignore this Forum...now I see that there are indeed individuals that can enlighten me in my quest for the ultimate peace...breathe...innnnnnnnnn....outttttttt...
