LED lighting for room

Really like some advise on what is the best way to light up a room using led. I have researched diligently and it seems like Lumileds is coming out with a warm LED 5 watt light soon that may be an option.

Does anyone know how many 5 watt LED I would need to light up a 10'x15' room?
Is there anyone outhere who sells premade track lighting using LED technology?
Lastly, does anyone know if Lumileds is the only company out there with these kind of technology? Are there other LED mfg that are ahead in production?

Hi,
that depends on how much light you want. Want to be able to read a book everywhere in the room or just background light?
AFAIK Lumileds makes the brightest LEDs.
Please give some more details of what you want and i may be able to help you.

The light level is more appropriate for mood lighting than general illumination

How does a 1W or 5W LED compare to an incandescent bulb and to a CFL one in terms of light output?

according to my experience, 2 1W will be at least as bright as if not brighter than one smallest CCFL tube. 1W highly overdriven would be as bright to, i think [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif[/img]

compared to incan, depend on which incan you are comparing it to. the incan inside 2 or 3D m@g would be easily defeated by a single 1W lux in terms of overall photon output. hey, it is nicer to the eyes too [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Has there been a new press release from lumileds? Last I heard they were still in the "thinking about it" stage as far as making 5 watt warm white's.

I would want to jump on the bandwagon at that point and get busy with some LED room lighting of my own if those show up.

As it is I plan to experiment with the warm 1 watts as soon as they show up at some smaller dealers so I don't have to buy a whole batch at once.
