What LED did you use? I built a couple for friends with Royal Blue LS's, fully adjustable from 0 to 400mA drive. The effect is nice, but I was told by a marine biologist that moonlight is white and shallow water corals need white light, so I am building a few with white LS's. We are considering a simple AVR circuit that will synchronize to the true moon phases, but most people want them just for effect (night light) not true light for corals to spawn.

I'm using six normal 5mm blue LEDs. I agree that white LED will archieve a more natural effect. I used blue color more for visual effects, some corals glow under the blue light. I am very interested in creating the moon phase effect to stimulate spawning of the corals. Can you share the circuit design/diagram with me. Thanks.
