LED Muffler Ends!
Well LEDs started out mostly for lighting purposes...then moved to some decorative. Now they make LED muffler ends! Crazy, huh?
Link.
What will they think of next?

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Hehe, I know what will they think of next? Ever since they came out with those LED windshield washer squirters I've seen all kinds of weird LED accents for your car.
It seems that the LED squirters a the LED muffler tips would have some legal issues. They can be distracting.

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Yeah...I've seen these on cars. Kind of silly, huh? You would think that the heat from the exhaust is probably NOT the best thing for led's....
oh well....

How about some of those furry dice you hang on the rearview mirror, but with LEDs for the dots? (or are those strictly a british thing?)

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
I like the ones where the LED's are kind of recessed into the circular housing rather than the individual holes. Now, give me a circuit that makes them brighter when I rev the engine and it will look like fire up in there somewhere

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Lighted exhaust ends?!? Now I've seen everything.
Think I'll just stick with the plain chrome trim on the end of mine thanks...Especially given that someone seems to have taken to nicking them (Along with the radio antenna and the license plates...and I live nearly 20 miles from the nearest town, lovely).

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Think that depends on the car (The heat issue). My car for example, the end of the exhaust gets just about too hot to touch. The old Metro after a run if it was wet, used to get hot enough that water dripping onto the chrome trim I had on the end used to fizz off instantly (including when using a power washer), wheras the end of the pipe on my parents new Ford Fusion gets only mildly hot (pretty toasty, but not too hot to hold on to).
Guess the temp's dependent on the car. Though for me it's a non issue, as it sounds a wacky idea anyhow. Still, I'm sure someone will like it.

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Actually saw a car with one of these things on today (Vauxhall Corsa, lowered to the point that the bumpers were about an inch from the road surface of course), and to be honest, that is somewhere in the top ten of naff looking car "upgrades" (Note the quotation marks) that I have seen in the last 12 months.

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Why light up the tailpipe with LEDs. lower it a bit more, the sparks are WAY more pretty.

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
These have been out for a long while. They do get damaged from heat, at least the ones I've seen are usualy missing a few lit up. And yes you will get pulled over. And yes I think they look horrible, just plain dumb.
If you want some light from your tailpipes, install a flame injection kit. Much more fun!

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Flame injection kit? My old Metro used to spit flames from the tailpipe without any need for a kit...though that had something to do with the fact it was a hommeade exhaust sytem I think....

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
LOL, those flame kits make me laugh....they just look silly spilling flame all the time.
Now, racers (on a proper race-course/track ) popping flames during shifts or when a road-warrior downshifts to pass a slow-moving truck......that's a different story altogether.

Natural flames = cool.
Artificial flames = poseur.

Re: LED Muffler Ends!
Basically what I had was a car where half the exhaust fell off - and I couldn't afford to replace it. So I just welded on a straight piece of pipe, improved performance, made a nice noise without actually being "in your face" loud, and liked scaring the heck out of anyone who was tailgating when I changed gear.

I was in Car Toys yesterday and was amazed at all the LED "upgrades" they had for sale.
