Default Topspiral CFL

I saw these when browsing through some online lighting stores. These use a new spiral design in order to emit more light than standard spiral CFLs. Seems like a good idea to me since a regular spiral blocks quite a bit of its own light. These new bulbs put out from 67 to 70 lm/W, which is about 15% more than most CFLs. And besides that, the price is right ($5.25 each for the 5000K, 30W CFL).

Hmm, clever idea. Kinda cuts down on the fact that spirals often had applications where normal U style CFLs wouldn't fit into though. Still, an interesting design development.
