Default Fiberstars Announces $1M DARPA Award for LEDs

PR Newswire

FREMONT, Calif., June 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Fiberstars, Inc. (Nasdaq: FBST) announced today that it has been awarded $1 million in funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) to develop Light Emitting Diode (LED) based High Efficiency Distributed Lighting (HEDLight) Systems. This initiative is expected to be complete in December, 2005.

In addition to the high intensity discharge lamp based HEDLight technology currently being developed by Fiberstars and partner companies under DARPA's HEDLight program, Fiberstars will work with Lumileds, the nation's leading LED supplier, to develop a high brightness, highly efficient LED based distributed lighting system.

The goal of the HEDLight LED initiative is to mate a multi-spectral array of LEDs producing a "near daylight" spectrum to Fiberstars' large core plastic optical fiber which will deliver high quality light with high color temperature and high color rendering...."

I think that $1 million should go to CPF and all the little helpers here that developed all the great lights through their intensive modding. Fiberstars should ask the experts at CPF.
