Default cold cathode for auto headlights?

After seeing a post about cold cathode lights I did a google search for them and they seem to be a great light - low powered & rugged. The websites that sell them indicate lighting PC cases or the interior of Auto's & boats. Does anyone have an idea of the output of these things? could the 6" or 12" lights be bundled like 4 tube ceiling lamp with a mini reflector? Could they be aimed and used like auto headlights (fog lights)?

I'd say a CCFL would be a VERY poor choice for an automotive headlight. Mainly because headlights need very tight beam control, and that requires a small but intense light source.

Not a good choice for headlights.

You can still use them in you car however as a Dome Light or to light up the dashboard (Lexus has these in the gauges)
