Ginny, Empath;
I do this kind of stuff everyday (j/k, j/k); well I do it allot.
It was clear to me, but some people in haste forget to put in a title, or just insert the http link directly into their posts (umm, like me ) and you run into that problem.
Can't speak for Ginseng, but maybe he had this(the links) all in a WP doc. and then posted/copied to the practice thread? Well that's what I do anyway (better spell checker/grammar checker than the spell checker for CPF software, but Safari's browser pull down 'spelling' selection from the Edit command at the top menu bar is the fastest of them all, lol).
I posted instructions for how to fix this quickly in a number of threads and PM's messages to various CPF members. Some get it, some don't.
Maybe this link will help for Ginseng (but again, I don't know how he is exactly entering his links---great links BTW, and OT ).
I posted this link for newbie today on the M*gChr disassembly thread which explains how to do simple or nicer/fancier named thread title links:
Lithium= 2x + runtime?
Oh, I changed something else for this link above, went from showflat mode to showthreaded mode by doing this:
Asterisks inserted before the url command to disable the link for display purposes here, boldface is the changed part that gives the threaded mode. On something like the Mr. Bulk threads, if you only want to link to one post, this speeds(changing to threaded mode display) the loading of the pages, especially the ones that have allot of large size images as in the Ginseng Aurora thread. If someone wants to read the rest of the thread they need only click on the upper right-hand "Flat" link above the post, directly adjacent to the "Next" link, and then all of the text of each and every post and image gets loaded into the browser window with flat mode selected.

Simply hitting the continue button below your post to preview it, will get you back to the box where you edit the post, and you can see the link in it's full and ugly long glory.
Then the quick-N-dirty edit is to highlight all of the formatting code
after the "Number=xxxxxx", and just delete that portion after the post #. That will always get you a link that you can post and will fit on any 14in monitor, not sure about 12in iBook or PB. But then you have no title which can be problem if you forget to check to see if the link(s) you have entered actually work(s). (umm, I goofed by not checking and made a 2page wide post that I left like that, on the batteries capacity thread by Mr. Al...mud all over my face when I discovered it months after the fact and corrected it).
If it is a multi-page thread and you want to link to a certain page, instead of the very 1st page of the thread, just copy the actual post# of the 1st post on that page in question, and replace it at the "Number=xxxxx" portion of your link. If you don't remove all of the coding after the "Number=xxxxxx", then whatever coding formatting commands that are specific to how you have your own CPF preferences set at will cause linking errors for those who do not have default 10? posts per page selected(see my note in my posted link).
Always best to use the true title of the thread, in case you make a mistake with the working link, then at least someone can do a search and find the referenced thread. Better still to list the actual post# that you are referencing, if that is the case (not applicable to Ginseng's links above, but for multipage threads like those of Mr. Bulk's it becomes very helpful).
Was that a confusing enough explanation for you
Oh well, I have the two most important posts and links from the underground, on the lifeline forum, that Sasha was requesting we copy and freely disseminate for the next long downtime evening(I suspect there will be more this month). Got her frustration covered, I hope; just have to be there in time to quickly post it for her.
