Default Is a SF G2 safe to use in a gas hazard area?

Just been asked by a friend who works for the Gas Board if a SF G2 is safe to inspect gas carrying pipes with. I would suspect it's as safe as any flashlight, apart from perhaps an LED that has no bulb to explode, am I correct? I've never known a flashlight to produce a spark. He currently inspects with a mini-m@g but for obvious reasons is not content. Any thoughts/knowledge appreciated.

There are HL rated lights, but the Minimag and the G2 aren't them unless I've missed something lately. Many of the Pelican lights are HL rated, that would be my pick offhand. .

HL rated? Ok I'll have a look at the Pelican range for him, only ever bought their excellent cases not their lights tho I have used a Pelican M6 which was like a SF 6P copy.

No. A G2 is not safe for hazardous atmosphere locations. There's a recent thread HERE discussing this subject.

Many of Pelican's lights are rated for hazardous atmospheres - a fine choice and a cheap way to avoid massive burns or explosions.

UK 2AA is certified Class 1 Division 1. Which means these lights were made for use in hazardous environment.

Streamlights also - try the Propolymers.... and if you don't need super-bright the 4AA 7LED is Cert but lasts way over 100 hours on 4 AA Duracells

Pelican light has 2 body colour series, silver is for dangerous environment. Black colour is for normal use only.

A nice Streamlight Propolymer 4AA 1 W Luxeon has more safety ratings on it's side than a brochure from OSHA.
