LED's and Incandescents dont play well together??

An Incandecent light source seems to "wash out" an LED light source, making the LED light source seem to dissapear.

Anyone else ever notice this?

I walk my dog with a friend, and she has a Streamlight Stinger HP, and when I bring my high powered LED lights (VIP, LionHeart, Streamlight 4aa ProPolymer LS, Space Needle II), and my LED beam will "dissapear" when it comes anywhere close to her incandecent beam.

This is a minor bother for me while walking the dogs, but it could be a major issue, if using a flashlight in a mission critical situation.

It all comes down to focused lumens. If you have about the same level of lumens in an LED vs incan then it may appear the incan washes the LED out but in actuality it most likely is the more focused intense spot. If you are not looking at the incan spot but off to the side and turn the LED on/off you may notice the side spill greater on some LED lights just around the hot spot of the incan. I find LED lights have more flood and spill which when you are looking around makes it easier to see vs incans.
